What Is It?

Clutches and Transmission are devices that convert the power form your engine into usable power at the drive wheels. Clutches are used in "stick shift" cars with manual transmissions. Other vehicles utilize a automatic transmission whose clutches and shifts are operated automatically. Transmission control what gear your car is in, and ultimately dictate what speed and direction the vehicle will travel in.

Why Do I Need It?

Without a properly working transmission, you run the risk of transmission failure meaning that you may be stuck where you are. Worse yet, should your transmission fail while your driving you may damage other engine components.

When Do I Have To Do It?

Generally, you will begin to notice on standard transmissions that as you let the clutch pedal up that the engine RPMs will increase without actually applying power to the drive wheels. In addition, you may notice a chatter or vibration as the clutch is being let out. These are all signs that indicate the clutch needs to be serviced, adjusted, or replaced.

In regards to automatic transmissions, you will notice the same increase in engines RPMs without the corresponding power to the drive wheels. These are all signs that indicate the transmission needs to be serviced, adjusted, or rebuilt.

The manufacturer of your vehicle has recommended intervals at which your transmission should be serviced. In addition, should you notice any of the symptoms of above, have it inspected and checked immediately.
