What Is It?

Your vehicle computer is a device with two primary functions. It controls engine functions such as fuel mixture and timing, and, it alerts the driver to system failures or anomalies via the "service engine" light.

Why Do I Need It?

A malfunctioning computer will result in poor performance, low gas mileage, and possibly a vehicle breakdown. Typically, the computer will identify failures such as an oxygen sensor (Part of the fuel management system) stops functioning the computer will record that failure. It's like a black box on airplanes. When technicians connect the computer analyzer to your vehicle's computer they can pinpoint problems.

When Do I Have To Do It?

In the event your "service engine" light comes on then you will need to have your vehicle analyzed. In addition, if you feel you vehicle's performance is less than normal, you can and should have a shop connect to your vehicle's computer, and monitor all engine management sensors for proper operation and range.
